How Does Real Reviews determine ranking position?

Real Reviews uses an advanced Bayesian weighting formula algorithm to determine a ranking position; reviews with just a few positive ratings won’t outrank those with many high ratings and a few negatives. A listing with 40 4/5 star ratings will outrank a listing with a single 5/5-star rating until the new listing picks up more reviews.

Example: Lets say you added the new item to the equation and the very first reviewer gives it 5/5 stars. Without a Bayesian weighted average algorithm, this new item would take top spot because it’s 5/5 stars, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the better item, it simply means the ONE person who used and reviewed it liked it. Using a Bayesian weighted average algorithm, Real Reviews will rank an item with more reviews higher than a product with just a few positive reviews. That means a company with a 5/5-star rating by a single reviewer won’t automatically go to the top of the list, but one with numerous reviews well above the average will. The more reviews customers submit about a company, the more we trust the ratings to be accurate and allow it to move up the ranks to the top. This basically tells us the company is a solid company that is highly recommended.

Share your opinion with friends, neighbours, and family by taking a few moments to rate and review companies and products you are using. You’re helping friends, neighbors, family, and visitors find the best companies and products – and warning them of the worse.
 
You may submit only one review per company/product.

Guidelines for writing a review

Be objective and truthful. Tell us how you really feel and why. Useful reviews are detailed and specific, and give the reader a feel for your experience. Think about what kind of information you want when you ask a friend, family member or coworker to recommend a company or product.

Here are some of the kinds of questions you might want to answer in your review:

Did the experience meet or exceed your expectations?
Would you use the company or product again in the future?
How did the company or product compare to other, similar companies or products you have used in the past?
Do you feel like you got what you paid for?
What did you like or dislike?
Would you recommend the company or product to loved ones?

Stay “on topic”. Present facts. Did the performance knock your socks off? Then say so!

Try to keep it short. Write short sentences that stick to the point and focus on highlights of your experience. The recommended length for a review is from 100 to 250 words.

Please:
Don’t spoil it for others. Don’t abuse the service. Reviews should not harass, abuse, or threaten another’s personal safety or property, make false statements, defame, impersonate someone else, contain profanity, sexually explicit, illegal or otherwise objectionable content, as determined by Real Reviews in its sole discretion.

Don’t post personal information. Never assume that you are completely anonymous and cannot be identified by your posts. Reviews should not include personal information, such as mailing addresses, phone numbers or credit card numbers belonging to you or others.

Don’t post multiple or commercial reviews. Reviews should not include multiple posts by the same user or posts that have spam, commercial or advertising content or links.

Don’t copy or otherwise infringe others’ material, trademarks or other intellectual property. Reviews should include your own, original thoughts. We want to hear from you!

Businesses listed in Real Reviews are not allowed to post reviews about themselves or other listed businesses.
